Halloween 2009

Halloween Parties!
Emmeline had a Halloween Party @ day care on Friday, October 30th. They wanted them to wear a costume, so she went as a witch (it was easier to go to the potty in than her other costume for trick-or-treating). The witch costume was a "left over" of Sophie's. Emme was so cute & loved the costume, epecially the witch hat. She did NOT want to take it off and had a fit to sleep in it.

Treat Bags (bowls) & Black Cat cupcakes for Emmeline's class. Public school doesn't allow parties for kids anymore, so Sophie didn't have one at school, like we used, to way back when I was in elementary school....I swear, times have changed and not for the better in some ways.
So, my friend Sherry & I hosted a party for the kids at her house on Friday night. Everyone had a great time, even those that came that didn't have kids. We had chili, cornbread muffins, "mummy" dogs, and an assortment of snacks & appetizers. To our surprise, gracious friends of ours made a hug pot vension stew, & another family brought oysters. We had a "graveyard hunt' in the edge of the woods. They had a trail back to a field through the woods and we set up tombstones, lanters, candles & spider webs. We threw out glow-in-the-dark skeletons, skulls, skeleton hands, bugs, critters, eyeballs, and rats....the kids were given flashlights & they searched to see who could collect the most in the dark....they loved it! Then they did the pinata & hay ride....adults & kids loaded up in the trailer & we were pulled through the woods & fields on their farm...then those daddies & adult men who did not go on the hay ride, hid in the woods at the end & jumped out and scared us....I about wet my pants, but it made for a great laugh!

Trick-or-Treat October 31, 2009

Sophie was a black princess cat.

Emme a pumpkin.

Am-ma (my mom) & Ammie (Ron's mom) went with us. First we had to make the required stops at our grandparents (the kid's great-grandparents) & my great-aunts for the special treats. Then we went to Erika's (our babysitter) parents neighborhood for more trick-or-treating. Erika's dad drove us in the back of his truck. Emmeline wouldn't let Shane, Erika's boyfriend, go. It was, "My Shane" all night long. The girls really enjoyed it. With Erika & Shane's helped I got to enjoy watching Sophie & Emmeline enjoy trick-or-treating....Sophie sacked out on the way home Emme called for her "Shane" or would ask, "Where my Shane go?" all the way home.

We had a fun Halloween weekend!

Catching Up

Bunko!

I hostedBunko (at my in-laws River House) for October. We had a great time, as always.

Pumpkin Carving

We had a great time carving the pumpkin. When daddy (Ron) got home from work the girls met him in the yard, all excited about carving the pumpkin. Sophie wanted a cute happy face - nothing scary, so I drew out a face and we got started.

Emmeline did NOT like how the "guts" felt - she has texture issues like momma (me). Sophie, on the other hand, got used to the funny feeling of it, jumped right in and took over the "gut" removal.

Since it was so hot that day, we scratched the idea of roasting hot dogs in the fire pit & we made "mummy" dogs instead.

A Saturday Morning
When 2 little girls get quite on a Saturday morning, this is what you may find, like I did.

Sophie lost her 2nd Tooth! Sept. 21, 2009

EMMELINE TURNED 2 - SEPT 10, 2009
My baby turned 2 on Sept. 10. We celebrated with family at Am-ma & Grandy's house (my parents) with an owl themed party. We took cupcakes and treat bags to share with her friends at day care. Boy time flies. I can't believe 2 years have flown by so fast. Life has been so exciting, fun, and sweeter, and definity busier with her. She is our surprise gift from God and she keeps us on our toes. She is a busy-body! We love you sweet baby!

Emmeline loved her birthday crown she got a school, and would not take it off. The girl loves cake and we couldn't keep her out of it. It was her birthday, so cake she got!

Sophie helped open the presents, since Emmeline was more interested in the toy she got.
Here she is saying "I two!"

6 going on 16 ?????

When is it that girls start talking on the telephone with their friends? Sophie has talked with a couple of her friends on the phone before, but I had to call their mothers which are friends of mine and Sophie asked to speak to their daugther(s). Anyway, Sophie asked me after school today if she could call her friend Taylor? Well, who is Taylor? "Taylor is my friend from cheerleading camp." I didn't remember her talking about a Taylor before from cheerleading camp this summer. After more questioning, Taylor is in her class this year and Taylor gave her her phone number today. Well, I told Sophie that after she had her homework done and finished supper she could. We also practiced on phone ettiquette and what she should say when calling. I let her call and limited her call to about 5 mintues...what do 1st grader have to talk about? Apparently, not much, as I suspected, but she was so excited about it. I on the other hand wanted to cry....just another little reminder of how much she is growing up. The whole thing to me just seemed like a big deal to me...this was a friend I don't know. Sophie said that Taylor's mom said something about a play date, maybe there is a new friend in it for me too!

And the School Year Begins.................

The first day of school was August 24. Sophie started 1st grade and seems to enjoy it so far and she likes her teacher. Where did the time go? My baby is in 1st grade!
Here she is on the way out the door & with one of her best friends, Allyson. I know the book bag is almost as big as she is, but the messanger style bag is what she HAD to have.

Emmeline is growing so much.....she moved up to the next class at day care since she is using the potty now. That class is the one just before the last class before they go to "big school".....my baby is growing up too fast! Since going to that class she has picked up so much more. She is making sentences/putting more words together now, saying her ABCs & 123s. Her teacher told me today that she was showing the children the shapes today and Emme said "circle" when she pointed to the circle! It is amazing how fast they learn. They are little sponges. The night before school started she figured out how to get out of her crib and would not stay in, so off came the front rail to convert to the toddler bed. I was just hoping she would stay in the crib longer. Anyway, she seemed to love this newfound freedom and we were up almost all night long. She did well after that, but this week, she is testing her bounderies. Momma here has been batteling sinus/allegies, head & chest cold for about 6 weeks now and is running out of strength & patience...hate to bother daddy with too much. He works so hard and leaves home at 4:00 AM to go to work. We are tired....but those precious boogers will always melt your heart & make you smile.

Here is Emmeline enjoying a Wendy's frosty
